Wildwood Outfitters And COVID-19

Preventative measures are being administered across the board right now, and the same is true for Wildwood Outfitters.  Our guide trips are still rolling, and being outside fishing is one of the best activities we can do right now in accordance with social distancing recommendations.  Even so, we are taking extra precautions to ensure the safety and well-being of both our guests and our guides.  Here are some things we are doing to make sure we take necessary precautions and still have a great day on the water! 

1. Meeting our clients on the stream.  Usually we would find a convenient meeting location near your desired destination and hop in the car together as we travel to and from the stream.  Now, we are carefully choosing meeting locations that don't require traveling together!  Once we meet on the stream, we are able to fish right from there.  If we choose to move to a new spot, both cars are parked together and we can travel in tandem. 
2. Hand sanitizer at the ready.  Our guides all carry hand sanitizer on them at all times on guide trips.  By frequently using it, and offering it to our guests, we can do our best to adhere to CDC and government regulations concerning hygiene. 
3. Social distancing.  Experts have all agreed that the best way to combat COVID-19 is to avoid large crowds, and especially those indoors.  That has led to the term social distancing, which basically just means stay away from people.  Luckily for us, that's what we try to do on all of our guide trips.  Not only is it safer to be outdoors, but we maintain a constant distance from others when we fish.  It's the perfect way to get some fresh air, enjoy an activity, and stay safe in the process!
4. No more handshakes or high-fives.  As much as it pains our guides to do, we are no longer offering up these congratulatory gestures, even when there is a nice fish caught.  However, we are more than willing and able to snap a few high quality pictures of your catch and offer gushing verbal congratulations! 
5. A pause on group trips.  To adhere to current CDC, WHO, and governmental recommendations we are putting a pause on group trips for the time being.  Parties of four or more anglers can absolutely book a trip right now, but we won't schedule a specific date until we know it is safe to do so.  
6. Booking for summer.  Many of our guests have reached out about scheduling a time for late spring or early summer.  Once you purchase a trip, you have credit for that trip for the duration of the 2020 season.  We would be more than happy to send you a gift certificate that can be used at your leisure this summer or fall for trout! 

This is a very difficult time for everyone, as this is something that is starting to impact all of our lives.  Being outside and spending the morning or day fly fishing can be a welcome reprieve from the reality of life.  Rest assured that at Wildwood Outfitters we aim to keep our guests safe, our guides safe, and provide quality fishing experiences that are so desperately needed right now.
