Wildwood Outfitters Blog and Fishing Report
Diversity of Fish. Few states can offer what Pennsylvania does in terms of fish diversity. In fall, winter, and spring our guide trips bounce back and forth between fishing for steelhead and trout, something unique to our area. We have an ability spend one day fishing for 28 inch giants in the Lake Erie tributaries, and the next day 8 inch brook trout from a stream where they've lived since the last Ice Age! It doesn't get much cooler than that!
Beauty. As we march up the trail in the morning glow, mist is still burning off the stream that has just come into view. A whitetail buck snorts and bounds away, aware of our presence far before we are of his. The bubbling of the riffles gets louder as we reach our destination, and the new sound that fills the air is the sipping and glug of feeding trout. Combine these scenes with dramatic vistas of rolling hills featuring continuous forests as far as the eye can see and it's not hard to understand why folks flock to Penns Woods for the beauty and serenity found here. Numbers of Fish. Let's be honest, this is really what brings people here. Catching 20, 30, or even 40 trout in a day isn't out of the norm during the peak months in PA. Not only are the fish beautiful, access abundant, and the scenery beautiful, but the there are tons of fish to be caught! During the months of May and June, our guide trips constantly post double-digit numbers and if the water conditions are right the opportunity exists to catch a whole lot more throughout the Commonwealth. Our trout trips will be up and running soon! Reach out today to start talking about what your guide trip might look like!
