Wildwood Outfitters Blog and Fishing Report
Booking a trip with Wildwood Outfitters is a great way to learn new water, break into the sport as a beginner, use top-notch gear, or just have someone net your fish and tie knots for a day! But if you've never gone a guide trip before, you might be curious what a day with one of our guides might entail. Perhaps you have gone on a guide trip elsewhere but aren't sure what ours are all about? Wonder no more, because we're about to dive in and tell you just what a day on the water with Wildwood Outfitters looks like! The preparation for your outing happens long before the day of the trip. When we first start talking about what type of trip (half- or full-day) you might be interested in, a number of things are taken into account. Angler skill level, time of year, and desired fishing location are all considered when formulating the best possible day for your angling party. A quality experience on the water is what we strive for, and that starts with creating a customized game plan to perfectly suit your wants and needs.
Arrangements will be made prior to your trip about where and when we will meet. Once a convenient time and place is agreed upon, all you need to do is show up! The guides at Wildwood Outfitters will come equipped with all the gear you'll need, from waders and boots to rods already rigged and ready to go. Our goal is to make your day with us relaxing and carefree as we take care of everything. After meeting, our guests usually hop in with their guide and go about their day. This has changed a bit with our new COVID-19 protocols where guests now ride in their own vehicle and follow our guide to and from the stream. On half days, that means a trip that runs about 4-5 hours. On a full day , the trip lasts about 8-9 hours and includes a lunch. While out on the water, our guides focus on specific instruction based on each client's skill level and goals for the day. Are you trying to learn how to fish streamers more effectively? Want to nymph up some trout from faster water? We can help you on the path to success and have you come away from your trip armed with new skills to use on your home waters. Another thing that sets us apart is our experience working with beginning anglers. Fly fishing can be intimidating to break into, and spending a morning or day with one our professional guides can help alleviate the learning curve and turn the frustrations of knots, tangles, and inexperience into a fantastic time gaining experience under the tutelage of someone who has assisted hundreds of beginners before you. We don't take you booking a trip with us lightly. Our goal is to make your day as smooth, fun, and relaxing as possible. The quality of your trip is at the forefront of our thought process from our first conversation until we send you emails of all of your great catches the day after the trip!
