The Best Of The Outdoor Community

Many of our followers know the commitment we have to the conservation group Backcountry Hunters & Anglers (BHA).  They champion for public lands, and the ability for hunters, anglers, bikers, kayakers, photographers, and everyone else to get out and enjoy the outdoors. The mission itself is worthwhile enough, but in truth it's the people that make it such an extraordinary community. 

BHA has a big event out west every year called Rendezvous, and Wildwood Outfitters donated a trip as a show of support.  Colonel Mike from Kentucky was the winner of the trip, and he and his wife decided to expand their adventure by a few days and do some steelhead fishing.  We spent two days catching more steelhead than some would hope for in an entire season and sharing in some really funny moments.  A pesky beaver threatened to derail our spot, bald eagles provided flyovers throughout the trips, and it was all 100% on public land.

It wasn't just the fishing and wildlife viewing that made the few days so special, however.  The conversation between the three of us went everywhere from elk hunting to what the Kentucky BHA Chapter is up to.  Therein lies the real value and greatness of the outdoor community, and how that is to be gained through groups like BHA.  We might have been fly fishing for steelhead in the Great Lakes, but swapping Colorado elk hunting tales and hearing about trout stocking efforts in Kentucky is what it's all about.

These are the type of relationships we're so grateful to create, and they're all made possible through a shared love and passion for the outdoors, adventure, and public lands to do it all on.  BHA can take folks from all over the country and bring them together all in the name of love for the outdoors.  It's great to be part of and even better to make some wonderful new friends!
