Wildwood Outfitters Blog and Fishing Report
Our steelhead trips require a whole lot more calculus compared to spring and summer trout outings. The fish won't come in until water temperatures decrease and rain events occur with some regularity. Once this begins to happen, surges of fish will pour in from Lake Erie and begin their yearly migration up the tributaries. We'll have our eyes on the weather for the next couple months monitoring the conditions and waiting for the chill of fall to start this event that isn't to be missed! In terms of our guide trips, we typically start hitting the PA streams around Thanksgiving and the action there will last through December and January. Mild years give us a window into February, but that all depends on what Mother Nature has in store! Once we get to March the focus of guide trips shifts a bit further west into Ohio to enjoy some of the fantastic action the Buckeye State has to offer. That means from mid-November through early April our focus will be on one thing: getting our anglers into steelhead and providing them with a quality experience on the water! For those who haven't yet felt the power of these fish, it's unforgettable and hooking a few will bring that exhilarating rush that can't easily be imitated! These are some of the most popular trips we offer, so if you're considering spending a day with us targeting steelhead reach out soon because our prime dates are almost gone!
