Wildwood Outfitters Blog and Fishing Report
Wild trout deserve the fullest measure of conservation possible. They are a precious commodity and they are one of Pennsylvania's most treasured resources. At the end of April, the PA Fish and Boat Commission will consider adding 85 wild trout streams and 33 Class A wild trout streams to the list of protected waters. This is hugely important for the watersheds in question and the trout that maintain stream-bred populations in them. Class A is the highest distinction a trout stream can earn in Pennsylvania, having demonstrated a high water quality and a biomass of wild trout sufficient to support a long-term and rewarding sport fishery. In almost all cases, stocking immediately ceases once a stream earns the Class A badge. This is critically important for the future of the wild trout present, as stocked trout can have a devastating effect on wild populations. We invite you to join us in making your voice heard for the wild trout of PA. It takes but a minute and can go a long way in securing protection for almost 120 trout streams!
