Recent Trip Report

It doesn't get much better than this beautiful brown!

Boy, does it feel good to be writing these again!  Since we resumed operations on May 1st, guests have been out fishing with us nearly every day.  During this stretch we've experienced some wild weather, with everything from snow to 75-degree mornings.  This has led to some inconsistent bug hatches but the fish haven't seemed to mind!  We've been experiencing plenty of smiles and fish in the net!

Bill and Leah had never fly fished before, but that didn't stop them from catching plenty of fish on their trip!

On our local streams, caddis are the main hatch to look for over the next few weeks.  Anglers might start seeing the odd sulphur or two, but it's still a bit early for that.  Most of the action is going to be on nymphs, but look for rising trout during the big events and target them with dries.  Trout are holding in all sorts of water right now, but watch the weather and keep tabs on stream gauges before heading out.  Even a little bit of precipitation can swell your favorite trout stream enough to make for tough fishing and treacherous wading.  The fishing is only going to get better over the next few weeks, and this is without a doubt one of the best times to be out on the water!

This fish appeared from a submerged log and chased our flies down several times before fully committing!
