Recent Trip Report

Trout season is in full swing, and Mother Nature has thrown us a few curve balls already.  The extended, unseasonable heat wave has put a strain on fish in some streams and the lack of rain has led to extremely low water.  Despite that, our trips have been putting up some great numbers in both Central and Northwest PA!  For the next month the focus will turn more towards the center of the state as our local waters start to warm to unsafe levels. 

Timing up the weather is critical right now, whether that be taking advantage of rain events or going in the early morning when the water is still cool.  Those mornings have seen some decently strong sulphur hatches and even a few green drakes here and there!  A combination of dry-dropper and nymph rigs are producing, and the most likely spots are areas that combine both depth and some current coming down into it.  Those are classic summertime trout hotspots, and if you can find a fast, deep run odds are good there are a few trout hanging around nearby!
