Recent Trip Report

This is certainly one of the more memorable trout of the season so far!

The trout action has been outstanding on recent Wildwood trips! Most of our trip are heading towards Central PA in search of some of the amazing hatches going off during this time. This has been a pretty interesting year in terms of weather, and we're getting to the point of monitoring both stream flow and temperature. When the water warms, trout become easily stressed and catching one (even if released) sometimes leads to their death. Consistent rains and nighttime lows in the 50s and 60s really help in keeping the season rolling and fish in the net for our guests!

Something that has really helped our trips is getting out early in the morning. Those first few hours after sunup can provide some of the best action of the entire day, and in this case the early bird definitely gets the worm...or fish! Trout have been holding in a variety of water, but the low and clear conditions coupled with several days in the upper 80s saw them briefly move into their typical summer zones in deeper holes and cool tributaries enter the main stream.
