Recent Trip Report

Battling through tough stream conditions results in a nice reward!

February brought the familiar chill of winter and some of the fishing challenges that come with it, but March has been nothing short of outstanding!  With each rain the Ohio tributaries get a fresh surge of steelhead and the PA streams are still producing a nice mix of fresh and drop-back fish.  This is a special time of year, and it's not often we get to enjoy steelhead fishing in nothing more than a sweatshirt!

Fish have been holding in a nice mix of deeper holes and smaller, fast runs.  When the water is low the deeper spots tend to produce better, but a surge of rain or snow melt brings steelhead into those faster moving riffles that fly anglers love so much!  Match your fishing techniques and strategies to the water conditions and always be mindful of the weather forecast and stream levels. 

The solid fishing will continue through the next several weeks but the season is coming to a close sooner than later!  Our steelhead trips will run into mid-April before the focus starts to shift back to trout for the spring and summer.  Whether on a trip with us or on your own take advantage of this last month(ish) and get out there to enjoy some steelhead while the fishing remains great! ​
