Wildwood Outfitters Blog and Fishing Report
Just like that it's now winter! Doesn't seem like that should be real, but with snow forecasted seemingly every day for the next week it's our reality! Despite the sudden cool-down trout fishing in the area remains solid. Plenty of stocked trout survived the summer and they continue to cooperate for anglers willing to walk and find them. We've recently taken a little break from going after native brook and wild brown trout as it's their spawning season and it's best to let them do their thing for a few weeks. Once December hits, it will be game on for them again until the streams start to freeze! The Lake Erie tributaries are fishing great right now! There are plenty of fish in the streams and they are responding well to egg patterns and nymphs. Going on weekdays is a good trick to help lessen the crowds as best you can, and be courteous to fellow anglers you run into. The peak run of fish for Pennsylvania is between Thanksgiving and Christmas, so we are rapidly approaching the most productive time of year if you can brave the conditions!
