Wildwood Outfitters Blog and Fishing Report
In fact, being a new fly angler can actually have some advantages as it pertains to the guide trip. Coming into the day as a blank slate allows us to start you off on the right foot with proper techniques from casting, drifting, setting the hook, and fighting the fish. It's a terrific way to take a sport that may take a couple seasons to figure out and eliminate that learning curve over the course of a half or full day. We work with all of our guests on how to read the water and know where trout or steelhead might be holding. Being armed with that information alone is enough to be competent the next time you venture out, whether with us or on your own. Going on a guide trip with Wildwood is an investment, because we'll obviously catch some fish during your time, but the goal is to take those things learned and convert it into hundreds of fish over the course of the next season or two! That's the great benefit of starting out your fly fishing journey with a guide trip, and it's why we love sharing that first time experience with so many people!
