Wildwood Outfitters Blog and Fishing Report
"Fly fishing is one of the driving forces behind my decision to pursue a career as an environmental biologist. Life is too short to not do what you love, and being able to work outdoors, all while benefiting the environment and society, is a true gift." One of the most important trout programs in PA is the effort to survey streams thought to potentially hold wild trout. The Unassessed Waters Initiative, spearheaded by the PFBC, is incredibly instrumental in accomplishing this and Lisa had the chance to be part of the process. "Finding brook trout, my favorite fish, wild and naturally reproducing, miles deep in the remote and unsullied PA backcountry, is something I will never forget," she said. The beauty of the brook trout is unmatched, and it's certainly not every day you can catch a fish that has likely never seen a human before! To further put conservation into practice, Lisa is the Vice President of the Shenango River Waters, a non-profit environmental conservation group. Furthermore, she sits on the board as the Women's and Diversity Chair for the Iron Furnace Chapter of Trout Unlimited. There's something to be said for believing in a cause or conservation group, but quite another to put in the hours and effort like Lisa does. Aside from the work mentioned above, she also founded the Clarion University chapter of Backcountry Hunters & Anglers. Give her a follow on Instagram @lisamonidae! "Though I have an undeniable penchant for all fish and aquatic life, trout swim in the very depths of my soul...and they always will." Now is a great time to book a guide trip for trout or steelhead! Shoot us a message and let's talk about your day on the water!
