Wildwood Outfitters Blog and Fishing Report
"When you have a passion, it drives you, it consumes you and nothing else matters."
Since 2016, Wooly Bugged has featured blogs and videos educating anglers and exposing them to Mike's experiences. On any given day that can mean pursuing the native brook trout of PA (his favorite fish) or salmon in New York state. From that desire to help beginners, Wooly Bugged has grown into a household name among fly fishers. Mike has grown the website from only featuring educational blogs to now highlighting captivating stories, interested videos, and an online store complete with some collaborative work with Andrea Larko.
Wooly Bugged is growing, as noted by future plans that include artwork, a constant stream of new products, and original content dropping all the time. Even with this tremendous growth, it's about more than website hits and Instagram followers for Mike: "fly fishing means something different to everyone. For me, it means adventure, joy, peace, learning, and community."
It's this sense of community that led him to volunteer with Project Healing Waters. For those unfamiliar, PHW is an organization dedicated to the physical and emotional rehabilitation of disabled active military personnel and disabled veterans through fly fishing. "This experience was life changing," says Mike. "Being able to share my passion for fly fishing with a veteran and see the joy it brought them was amazing." Taking part in the event brought Mike such joy and fulfillment that he is participating in two more events as a mentor this coming season.
